This inaugural event was a resounding success. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the attendees for their active participation, which made this day a memorable one. We would particularly like to recognize the efforts of Julian Sommer, Akash Gupta, Eric Muires, Eva Sextl, and Lucas Valenzuela, who generously shared their experience and expertise with us. They discussed a wide range of topics, including studying abroad, funding opportunities, the challenges of being a Ph.D. student, transitioning to industry, and upskilling ourselves inside and outside the classroom. We would also like to each and every member of the staff and faculty, including the secretaries, staff scientists, and professors who shared their slides, suggestions, and thoughts with us. Our vote of thanks would be incomplete without mentioning Professor Jochen Weller, who cycled all the way from Garching despite the rain to kick-start the event!
To those of you who left us words of appreciation, thank you! We are delighted to know that you left with a deeper sense of curiosity and appreciation for the research conducted at the USM. These small gestures inspire us to work harder, and we are happy to have helped.
We hope that this event marks the beginning of many uplifting and enduring traditions to come, and is the first step in fostering a scientific culture and a sense of community among the students. Thank you all for joining us in paving the way for a better student community. It would not have been possible without you!
