How to reach us by public transport
The USM is located in Bogenhausen on the east side of the river Isar.
Airport
The new Airport Munich II (Franz-Josef-Strauß-Flughafen) is located 24km to the north-east of Munich between
Freising and Erding. The Airport is connected with the Munich public transportation net (MVV)
- At the airport: arriving from any terminal region follow the railway sign or green "S"-sign and enter
the S-Bahn (S8) in the central area (Z). Exit at Ostbahnhof (=East Station). The S-Bahn leaves every
20min nearly 24h and takes about 30min. Enter bus 54, exit at Galileiplatz.
One-way ticket Euro 9,- (stripe ticket, 4 zones = 8 blue stripes)
- Alternatively there are lots of bus connections, Hotel buses and other airport shuttles.

Railway stations
Hauptbahnhof (central station)
There are three possibilities:
- Take one of the S-Bahns to Ostbahnhof, then enter bus 54, exit at Galileiplatz
- Take U4 (green line) to Arabellapark - exit at Prinzregentenplatz.
Walk the rest along the Possartstraße or take bus 54, and exit next bus stop. (see local
map)
- Take tram 18 (to Effner Platz). Exit at Sternwartstraße (12th stop). Alternatively there is
- tram 19 in direction St.-Veith-Straße (change at Max-Weber-Platz to # 18) or
- tram 17 to Effnerplatz (change at Isartor to # 18)
Ostbahnhof (east station)
Take bus 54 (to Münchner Freiheit) which is leaving from the bus terminal in front of the railway
station building.
The bus stops at Haidenau-Platz, Grillparzerstraße, Prinzregentenplatz and Galileiplatz where you exit.
From Garching
- Public transport: Take Bus 291 to Garching-Hochbrück - take U6 at the U-Bahn station.
- exit at Odeonsplatz - take U4 to Arabellapark and exit at Prinzregentenplatz.
From there you walk the rest along the Possartstraße or you take bus 54 at Prinzregentenplatz for
one stop.
- Exit U6 already at Münchner Freiheit and take bus 54 to Ostbahnhof; exit at Galileiplatz.
