Database overview

In order to study the properties and evolution of outer halo features occurring due to galaxy mergers, we initiated our own set of binary galaxy mergers. Here you can find some sample videos of the different simulations.

The simulations are divided into two families. In the first one the merging galaxy is tilted by ω = 30° but approaches the host galaxy from within the disk plane of the host galaxy with a varying impact parameter α. In the second family the impact parameter is kept constant at α = 0°, while the merging galaxy approaches the host galaxy from a varying angle Ω above the disk plane of the host galaxy. Each parameter combination was simulated with four different mass ratios.
