What's necessary for the Practical Couse to be fun

You should have basic knowledge about Astronomy and Astrophysics, as taught in the two semester introductory lectures "Introduction to Advanced Astropysics". Furthermore, you should know about the most important skills from the practical courses during your Bachelor studies. In case the things behind any of the following terms in unclear to you, you should review your Astrophysics manuscript or your practical courses in physics: unless you have the necessary basic knowledge, you won't have fun. But without fun you won't learn much during the Practical Course.
  1. parallaxes and distances
  2. magnitudes
  3. colors
  4. Doppler shift, redshift
  5. error propagation
  6. Poissonian and Gaussian statistics
  7. linear regression
  8. Boltzmann, Fermi, Dirac Distributions
  9. Saha-Boltzmann equation
  10. Hydrogen atom, Lymann, Balmer, etc. lines
